Jewelry Cleaning 101

Happy Mother's Day From Louis Anthony Jewelers

Ideally, when you want your jewelry cleaned, it is best to visit your local jeweler. However, here are a few of our favorite tips when that is not possible.

Dish soap— Use a few drops of mild dish soap with about a ½ cup of lukewarm water. Soak the jewelry for about 20 minutes. Do not do this with pearls.

Soft toothbrush— Use a soft bristle toothbrush to remove loosened dirt after soaking your jewelry.

Microfiber cloth—If you don't have a toothbrush, a soft microfiber cloth will do the same after your jewelry is soaked. The microfiber cloth can also be used to dry your jewelry gently.

Silver cleaning cloths—These are usually packaged with silver jewelry purchases. Rub over your silver and watch the natural shine return. No water or chemicals are needed.

Pearls—Whatever you do to clean your jewelry, please never try to clean the pearls yourself. Leave that up to the professional.

We are happy to help you clean, repair, and maintain your jewelry. Please stop by today to discuss your needs with our experienced jewelers.
