Call me crazy but I love wearing jewelry to the pool. Lighter weight layering chains, a simple stack ring or two and a fabulous pair of earrings feel as necessary as a stylish floppy brimmed hat. Read below for some tips on pool and beach safe jewelry. Most importantly, don’t forget to clean everything when you get home!
- Avoid porous stones like turquoise, pearls and emeralds. Chlorine is not their friend and could damage the stones. Stick to harder gems like diamonds, sapphires and quartz.
- Gold or platinum are the best metal choices! Be cautious with sterling silver as pool chemicals and sunscreen my cause they metal to discolor. It is always a good idea to apply sunscreen first, then accessorize.
- My personal favorite is an ankle bracelet (or several!) This is also a great idea for any old chains lying around in your jewelry box. Breathe new life into something you haven’t worn in a while!
